17 Mar 08 tablet fun

The tablet pc has been very helpful during class.  i can just listen and understand it more and don’t have to worry about writing whats on the board down.  With the tablet its just sent to us in a email and theres no problem with writing something down wrong or just not getting it down fast enough.  this is what i like most about the tablet pc.

My tablet experience

My first experience of using a tablet was absolutely fun.  I felt like I was one of a head student in this class.

Using a tablet PC experience felt like my first experience of using IPod.  Just like first experience of using iPod, it was so complicated, and hard to use it until I get comfortable. Once I felt convenient for using Ipot became my most important stuff as other people consider their lovely pet..  Using tablet experience was similar to those experiences. First time when I used it, I could not even draw the first line.  Well, It got me into not falling sleep during class, which I spent 100% concentration to take notes during calculus notes.  I even hardly draw lines especially when Mr Seamon draw a x-y graph, it was hard to and doing both listening and writing in one time.  After that, I became comfortable, and liked to use, and eventually I enjoyed. I mean I did not want to give a chance to others; I started peerless thinking about having all to myself.

Well, it was a good experience to begin my day.

Well, since I am lazy boy, I would rather put class notes some steps only with the abbreviation of Mr. Season’s work.  But by using this, I could even make some highlights of some important work.

The one that I didn’t like, I don’t know for sure; maybe takes sometime to adjust using it? I guess that is it.

My 4.10 Homework Notes

For the sake of disclosure let it be noted that I love technology.

That being said, My experience using the tablet in Calculus was a mixed bag. The ability to dynamically modify and save work and telecommunicate my thoughts and ideas effectively was fantastic. However, there were some major issues that I found while using the tablet.

  • You can’t comfortably use it on the desk. The writing angle just doesn’t work.
  • The only comfortable place to put it is on your lap. (see next point)
  • It gets ridiculously hot (see next point)
  • I think this speaks for itself.
  • The weird shape battery makes resting it anywhere a pain because the angle of the tablet has to be adjusted.
  • The rope attaching the pen to the tablet was so troublesome I had to disconnect it.
  • Running the tablet in portrait instead of landscape while taking notes, I found that you run out of screen space reallly quickly. OneNote Doesn’t create enough page bottom space fast enough for my tastes.
  • Once I switched to Landscape I found that i was constantly knocking into the buttons encircling the perimeter of the screen. Highly annoying.
  • I can see the tablet being an issue for persons who re not completely comfortable with wacom technology or the onenote interface.

I think, and I’m sure Mr. Seamon does as well, that the tablets have real potential. A few minor bugs are always to be expected.

A list of my suggestions for their use:

  • Either new chairs or new desks. The angles simply do not work currently.
  • A different battery size for the tablet.
  • The ability to dynamically interact with the teacher’s presentation.
  • Figure out a way to make one note provide more real estate in portrait.

My class notes are at the end of this post for all those interested in seeing my take on the test prep and 4.10 homework.
